Bofors scam returns ?to haunt Congress

NEW DELHI - The Bofors ghost is out again to haunt the Congress-led government as an Income Tax tribunal has ruled that Italian businessman Ottavio Quattrocchi and his partner Win Chadha received a commission of over Rs.412 million in the Rs.15 billion Howitzer gun deal in 1987. The opposition BJP has demanded that the “fraud” and “cover up” be probed by a special investigation team.

Reddy nod to purchase more electricity

HYDERABAD — In yet another major move to bridge the gap between demand and supply in the power sector, Andhra Pradesh chief minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy on Sunday gave the nod for purchase of 50 per cent of the power that would be generated at the proposed 4,000 MW mega power project in Visakhapatnam district promoted by the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC).
